Project? What project?

We finally got the new sofa, it’s 8 foot long and 45 inches deep. A manly sort of sitting space to be sure and I love it. Both of us, Beloved and I can lie down to watch TV together and there is room for baby girl (as long as she doesn’t mind feet in her lap) Have I ever mentioned how much baby girl hates feet. Oh yeah, the object of this post is the project not feet and not baby girl. See along with the sofa we got a big a$$ ottoman instead of a coffee table and because we weren’t sure how the fit would be in the living room we waited to get end tables. Y’all remember the Autumn Adventure we had and that forced us into all the newness going on in the living room.


Yeah, yeah on with the project already, I hear ya. Because the sofa is long it really didn’t leave room for the chair we had bought… a lovely navy blue rear back chair so it sits by the newly fire glassed fireplace, very cozy for reading and gazing upon my Beloved as he sits dozing on the darkt gray manly sofa with his feet propped up on the coffee ottoman. His glass of water sits on the floor. WHAT—What---what?

I looked and looked for end tables that would fit, not just the sorta style we have going on but also the peculiar space (lack thereof). I hunted in all the local furniture stores, found one that “would work” but cripie who in their right mind would pay $200 for one half sized end table that just sorta “worked”? Not me that’s for sure. Then one day while walking around the Wals-Mart I saw something that would be perfect. Okay almost…it was the perfect color, perfect size it just wasn’t a table. So I didn’t buy ‘em, but let the idea smolder and stew for a couple of days in my brain and thought what ta heck, even if it didn’t work the most I’d lose was like $75 and some of my Oh so available time. And I was pretty sure it would work so I bought 2 of ‘em.

Saddle seat bar stools. Sanded a bit off the top ends, to even the surface a little cause of the dip and all. Then I took some of the left over tiles from around the fireplace and did this

Found some faux wood trim at the Lowes store, painted it the same gray/black of the tiles on the fireplace, used liquid nail to adhere them to the stools, er I mean tables

And we ended up with these awesome custom made end tables! Yes 2 of ‘em for less than ah hundred bucks. And beings how this was TAX WEEK (yikes) I needed to save some monies.

There ya have it my dear internets, the completed and, I think, successful Project.
