So on New Year's Day

My son came over and his girlfriend and y’all know that means my beautiful newest granddaughter came with them. I love her, she hardly cried at all, even when I pinched her. Hahaha, not really, but it made YOU laugh. Or cringe...whatever.

We had a nice visit and ate our traditional dinner of black eyed peas (for luck), cabbage (for money), ham (for continued food on the table), mashed potatoes (for we like ‘em), and biscuits (forgot to buy rolls). I held Wynter while everyone else ate, then Grampy held her while I ate. It was good. Then they had to go which was okay as Beloved had to go marry someone. Remember? I told y’all.

We drove up to Willis, took some pictures out in  the yard. Found out that our 2nd cousin’s friend was our son’s girlfriend’s aunt. I know small world and all. We drove down and around about a quarter mile or so and ended up in a small clearing in the woods. We all piled out of our cars, gathered around and Beloved spoke the words and the happy, in love, couple repeated ‘em and shared gifts of rings and then they kissed. And some of us missed the shot, so they had to kiss longer and more. It was beautiful. And then we took more pictures and hugged and offered well wishes. And hugged some more. Then it started getting too cold for the little ones, so we piled in our cars and drove to The Road House for some yummy food. Then we paid and we left the happy couple to tend to wedding night business. Y’all know {wink}

And then we got home and watched some celebrity ghost stories and got our milk and went to bed.

And it was one of the best First Day’s of the new year. How’s about y’all? Did you, my dear internets have a pleasant first One-One-One One?

Are you excited? Well you should be, my birthday is coming and I’ll be at the half way mark. I‘m all excited and nervous and all wiggly inside. Well, it hasn’t been that easy climbing this hill ya know…see some of it’s rocky.

Sounds like you had one great holiday!!! I love the name Wynter, it screams CUTE!

I enjoyed the first day of the New Year! I emailed my first four chapters to an editor and praying they love it! Watched movies with my husband and enjoyed pizza and soda. Perfect way for 2011!

Sounds like you had a grand-old first day of the year. We had a quiet one at home while new snow fell on the yard. We've had hardly any this winter so it's still a novelty. That will change!

So glad you had a great New Year's Day Paige, and that you got to hug, hug, hug a lot. My day was quiet, just lounged around and read like I've done all week. Time to come out of hibernation!

Happy new year!

What a great way to spend New Year's! Your line "mashed potatoes (for we like ‘em), and biscuits (forgot to buy rolls)" made me laugh. :D

My husband and I spent part of New Year's Day test driving a new car, but we didn't decide to buy it---yet. I'm hoping we will decide to get it because I really like it. Husband still needs some more convincing, so we will see! HA! :D

I cooked a crockpot of pork spare ribs and sauerkraut -which is the traditional New Year's Day Good Luck Meal in our neck of the woods. The sauerkraut was given to us by Kurt's TSS and her mother had made it. Let me tell you, this stuff was absolutely awesome! I tossed a package of hot dogs into the mix shortly before we were ready to eat so the kids would have something they like too (and it managed to get a tinge of flavor then from the kraut too so they got to experience a little of that)then. I watched to Rose Bowl Parade and very much enjoyed that spectacular site then watched the Outback Bowl Football Game -which I didn't enjoy nearly as much as I would have if the Nittany Lions would have won! However, considering that the game was the last game for Coach Urban Myers of the Florida Gators Team and that one of the teams involved in any of these games has to lose, I was kind of happy that it was Coach Myers and his team that ended up the winners. (Still would much rather it had been JOEPA and the Nittany Lions though, ya know!) And of course, after all that, I took a little nap!
Happy New Year Paige -a little late but better late than never!

Thanks for telling us about your so wonderful New Years Day. That was lovely to hear/read. Especially appreciated after the jarring experience of finding my face writ large. Thanks, I needed that.
