Baby Quilt

Hey remember that baby quilt I told y’all about, or did I? Well here it is for show anyway. And baby Boston loved it. It was completely made in my studio. Unlike my Dad’s quilt which was only finished in the studio. And if I have not mentioned before how I feel about the studio---I LOVE IT!

The Top looks like a box of crayons to me ...... The Back looks like a coloring book

This studio has come in very handing during the past months during Ike it sheltered a cousin that lived in Sea Brook, we have had out of town company stay in it. And one day we will finish the base and door trim and insulating the attic. Really, I’m sure of it…you can stop snickering just any time.

It's not too late...

Well maybe

Sand Stickers; What a problem on bare feet and I like to be bare footed. These things grow well in bad soil. I did a bit of reading on this last summer and found out that most, if not all, sticker weeds thrive in poor soil. So you have to make your yard richer, but don’t throw your pocket change in it. Add compost—not fertilizer—to your yard and especially the areas that have the sand stickers, in the winter to very early spring. Heavy compost can burn your grass, so easy does it. Pick up a few bags, or a pickup bed full, from your local home improvement store spread it around somewhat evenly with a shovel. You don’t want big piles of the stuff, and yes it does smell a bit but that will lessen and diminish in a couple days. Natural rain fall is best but if that is not happening water a bit to help marry it into your soil. It may take doing this more than once, but your yard will thank you and so will the bottom of your feet. Happy upcoming summer.

A gift for you...

By way of one of the best information sites I visit, though not near often enough is coppyblogger. There you can find some interesting tidbits about blogging and writing in general. And today I want to share a gift with you my dear Internet Valentine, one that they shared with me. And this poem (I hope the formatting works--if so it will be in the shape of a heart and everyone says ahh)

MY VALENTINE

Hearts Beating
as one

Filled with sentiments of the priceless
memories we hold
In celebration of time with rejoicing
for plenty more to go

Lifetime as one

Heart

HOT, HOT and HOT

Yes in deedy it was hot today. I planted some flower bulbs. The white round thingys are to save spots for where my cotton seeds will go. Out of the four cotton plants I had last year I only ended up with one cotton puff. I had several bowls but they were lost in hurricane Ike. A couple survived but a bug poked into one of the bowls and the cotton won’t “Pop” open after that. Then they bloomed again and man were those little guys looking good, but we had a bit of a cold snap and they didn’t like that so they turned black. I will plant four of the seeds from the one and only popped cotton bowl and try again. Heck I may even plant them on time this year.

Planting the cotton is for my own amusement, but who knows with a little luck after 20 years or so I may end up with enough cotton to make a towel.

Good News

For all my northern internet friends. I saw with my own naked eyes bright and early this morning.

Spring is on its way!

Flapping wings and honking horns the geese are going home. Ok so they were flying north, I don't know how far they were going, but I'm sure someone is close to spring weather. No matter what the groundhog said.

Hang in there my snow bunny buddies.

Post of Ages

Have you ever woke up and looked at yourself in the mirror? I mean really looked at yourself and then through out the day catch snippets of yourself as you pass one? All of a sudden you stop and really take a good look and right before your very eyes…

That smooth skin of 20, the firm breasts of 16, a little waist and tight butt just fade into 40+ crinkles around those once bright eyes and laugh lines that used to be there only when you laughed are now there only they are not laughing. Saggy milk bubbles that need under wire support or a shelf to make them appear to be somewhat happy and glad to see ya. Hair that glistens in the sun and florescence lights of the office not because you use a great shampoo but because it is now silver and you refuse to color it because you don’t have time. Everyone knows time is way more valuable then it was in your twenties and thirties and you don’t sweat the little things like that anyway. No you only sweat at night, especially your legs. Of course that doesn’t matter on account of you can’t sleep all night anymore. Which is what you blame the mood swings on, yes that’s it a lack of sleep and a bad thermostat. You sit back and giggle behind a co-worker’s back because they refuse to believe much less even think they are in the beginnings of or the middle of Menopause—God forbid. And they don’t have any issues with their menses as they are still on the pill. No they never start unscheduled have cramps or clots or stay that way for weeks. Nope they are not, no not even near “that old!”

ME NEITHER

But if you are of that age, you know you have to love yourself before you can give love to anyone else. You have to love yourself before you can accept love from anyone else. And besides this is just a new stage for you to embrace and explore. Yes a New Adventure moreover it sure beats the hell out of the alternative. Remember you don’t have to have mirrors in your home, as they don’t really make the room any larger that is just a myth. Trust me on this.
