Bragging?

No way Bob! But I will regale y’all, my dear internets, with a smallish story of mother’s pride.

Last night we attended the Awards Banquet for the Juniors and Seniors of Baby Girl’s school. Yes she is graduating in a few short days, needless to say we are somewhat excited, after all she is the last of seven. Whew are we tired! No, I’m not even going to think nor talk of higher education ~ give me a break ~ first, umm let’s pretend I, we get summer off. Yeah a summer vacation then we’ll think about all that.

Oh, yeah I was bragging…oops I meant, of course, telling y’all about a mother’s pride.

So there we were, dressed up in a room full of strangers eating and making very little small talk. It was time for awards. We Knew Baby Girl would get a “Star Student” as we had to buy that, yes really. But then she got an award for A-B Honors in grammar. Wow she has come a long way from not capitalizing the first letter of a sentence. Then some other kids got some…

And then it was Baby Girl again! A trophy for being most Improved during this school year. See, she has come a long way. Then some other kid(s) then BAM, Baby Girl for the best Citizen within the school, and they drolled on and on about how she is conscientious and helps others and the staff and polite and blah blah blah every good thing YOU want in your kids. {SMILE} So there was a couple of awards for some other kids and Hole E Mole E Baby Girl got another one, this time for most Dedicated (she took extras courses so she could graduate this year).

Intermission – he Juniors entertained us by putting on a skit where in they impersonated the Seniors. It was so funny and as far as I could tell they Nailed it.

Now it was the Preachers wife’s turn to speak and she talked about the staff, students and blah blah good stuff. She talked about how when they started this school (a little church school) that the pastor wanted to give out an award every year to a Senior or Junior that showed – well he had like this major list of qualities and then asked if the three candidates would stand and BaM Ah Lam he called Baby Girl after two boys. We were so proud already and now to think she was considered for the biggest and bestest award. Wow, just Wow. So they sat back down and the pastor talked some more and then finally he called BABY GIRL! OMG, my dear internets…OMG Of course I knew when he used the term consistent during his speech that it had to be MY Baby Girl.

As we were gathering up ALL her trophies to leave there were tons of people congratulating Baby Girl and us. Telling us how much they like and enjoy her...Oh my dear internets, we are so proud and happy and sad that certain people of her life could not be there in person, but we know they were there in spirit.

Baby Girl your Mom, Dad, Grandmaw and Grandpaw saw it all, they are just as proud, if not more, as we are of you. And yes they will be there when you walk the stage to receive your High School Diploma.

Thanks for reading this little Prideful story from this very proud and very happy mother – little ol' moi.

Oh, you must have been blown away! It is good to get recognition for hard work, and by the way, I LOVE the name on her certificate! Her first name is Baby just like in the movie!
