So What...

Cha doing? Me, just hanging out wondering when the Christmas Elf will come to take down our tree and put away all the decorations (nice & neat). What? The Elf does not come to your house? Well that’s too bad.

I hope y’all didn’t have returns to stand in line over and that everyone was thrilled with the gifts you gave them. Hey there’s always next year if not.

Did any of my dear internets go out shopping for the 75% off sales? I didn’t, most stuff was very picked over before and I have enough wrapping paper to last a few years.

Next year I’m thinking a total handmade Christmas, well if I start now that is…hey it could happen I have 11 months to think about it.

Do y’all have any plans for a New Year celebration? Us, no; cept maybe my Beloved will go marry his 2nd cousin. Hey it’s legal for him to perform the ceremony, being ordained and all. I suppose instead of hanging out I should go find some vows or something for him. Hey I have an Idea (rare I know) you could tell me what vows you spoke / did at your weddings…well if you’re married that is.

So What were they?

Please note that YES I do mean for you to answer all the above questions. See I'm holding my hand out just a waitin for y'all to fill it

Gosh, Monday morning and so many questions to answer! I'm not sure my brain is up to it! I didn't know there was going to be a pop quiz, and I didn't study. Besides, the dog ate my homework! :-D

I wish the elf would come to my house to take down the decorations!! I've never seen him here. I will have to leave them up for a while yet, though, because my brother and his family are coming next weekend to celebrate Christmas with us. Hey,now I answered two of your questions--the one about the elf and about plans for the new year! That's pretty good for me, especially since I didn't study. :)

Happy Monday to you, Paige.

I wait every year for that darned Elf to show up -to no avail too! One year, when he hadn't shown up by April and younger daughter refused an offer of $20 from older daughter to defrock the tree, I decided if she wouldn't do it for money, then I wouldn't do it for free and just left the trimmed tree up in place the entire year! Saved me upteen hours in December then trying to find the boxes with the ornaments, putting tree together and trimming it. I often think I should operate that way all the time but the kids get persnickety about that idea when they think it's rolling about in my head, ya know.
Hope you and yours have a great New Year now. I'm working on that idea in my mind here.

Your beloved is going to go marry his second cousin...but I thought Your Beloved was married to you?

Well...I had a few drinks before I said my vows and I ended up saying "with this wing, I thee wed". Yep, I will never live that one down!

Appreciate the universality of your message. You remind readers nothing is unobtainable. Everything is possible. Physical action is not the only solution.

Actually Paige, Hubby just stood there like a deer in headlights. Oops! I should say, like a SILENT deer in headlights. All was hushed for about five full minutes before he figured out we were all waiting for him to respond to the question, "Do you take this desperate, old maid to be your ever-loving strife?" :)

Today is our anniversary. 26 glorious years :)

And now I'm going to catch all those 75% of sales you eluded to.

Oh how I'd love to have that little Elf around here. We took our tree down the day after Christmas, and packed up most of the decorations for the Salvation Army because we've used them going on four years now, time for a change - wish I'd gotten to the sales! But, I'm not a shopping kinda girl, in fact I hate shopping, so of course I always have to pay too much because I wait till the last minute.

Anywho, I'm off work this week so I'm doing Nothing, 'cept reading and writing and drawing and painting. That's it, no cleaning for me!

Vows - our vows came from the book of Ruth: "Entreat me not to leave you, or to turn back from following you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, and there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me." (Ruth 1:16–17)
We had such a beautiful wedding, it's great to remember. I even walked up the aisle to the tune of "Going to the Chapel", (which my mom was horrified by). Ah, good times...

Hope you're having a fun, lazy week! Happy new year!

Paige...Part of "dealing" with my daughter leaving is going to be purging and organizing the house (which includes taking down the tree and putting away all the decorations) that is now occupied for the first time in my life with just me and the dog!!

might even write more on my blog

ps - new years cheer!

my dear

Very little dec pick-up to do here!
For a minute, sounded like your Beloved was getting married, not ding the ceremony...
I like the Apache vows I posted at
http://snaggedt.blogspot.com/2006/09/location-is-everything.html

Part 1 is:
“Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other.
Now you will feel no cold, for each of you will be warmth to the other.
Now there will be no loneliness, for each of you will be companion to the other.
Now you are two persons, but there is only one life before you.
May beauty surround you both in the journey ahead and through all the years.
May happiness be your companion and your days together be good and long upon the earth.”

We had a friend do a little reading from 'The Prophet' by Kahlil Gibran...

"...Love one another, but make not a bond of love:

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your soles.

Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup..."

and more to that effect. Boy, that was a long time ago! I love your ring, BTW. A similar design to my wedding band.
