Broke Up

Does this boot make my foot look big?

I’m just all broken up about it. It’s true I was so excited about watching that HBO tv show coming on that I was rushing to get to the couch…and wham – O bam – O crunch – O when a toe bone – O broke – O and a little bone that connects said middle toe to the foot bone.

Have y’all ever broken a toe? This is my third. The first was a big toe that meet a wooden coffee table, back in the 80’s and then about a year latter a ham fell outta the freezer landing on the other big toe. Now don’t get me wrong those hurt, but not like this one. With the big toe you just sorta hobble on the outside of your foot, ya know. With the middle toe walking is next to impossible. No seriously, it is. You can’t balance on either the inside or outside part cause the pain happens when you use any part of your foot. Including when you pick it up, that dang ol’ thing has this sort of muscle, tendon WHATEVER that pulls right from the middle all the way up to my eyeballs. Yikes!

Argh! I had to sit with my foot propped up on the very item that hurt it, the ottoman, with its stupid big a$$ legs. Have you seen them? Here have a look for yourself.

See how big they are and how far they stick out, just trying to catch my toes. I have so many things I need, no more than need, I have to do. Just gotta do, but instead I’m sitting here typing this from the sofa while the tv blares, and bon bons melt from the heat of my lap top. Oh gotta go Martha Stewart is on and I can’t miss this episode.

Have y’all broken a toe or anything? (lil’ Kelly is disqualified from this question) I mean just anything like a heart, a dish, a tooth, a window or some one’s head?

Oh crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I've had to wear a "fetchingly-fancy-foot" kind of a thing. :-( Just on the foot though. Not up the leg. Yikes.

Broken my arm too.

I've fallen more than that, but guess my "well-padded-middle" has saved me. LOL! Knew there was something good about that later-in-life development! ,-)

Paige, I broke my leg and ankle last summer. It was miserable. But the best thing for it will be an ice cuff. Get one and you'll be so happy! Er, well, as happy as you can be with a broken bone...get better soon!

Paige, I've broken my toe and I didn't even know it was broke. It was my tiny little toe. Yours looks and sounds painful!

By the way I burst out laughing when I read about the ham falling outta the freezzeer :) It must have been embarrassing to tell the doctor that? "A Ham did it!"

I hope you get to feeling better soon. Though you do look kinda comfy on the sofa.

Oh sweetie... so sad. I've never broken any bones, but I imagine it hurts. Though I do need some foot surgery, and I think they will be snipping tendons. But bones. Ugh.

Time to redecorate? Speaking of, love the new blog digs. peace...

Paige, what shall we do with you? Don't run in the house!

Actually, I shouldn't scold you because I did the same thing a couple of years ago. Caught my toe-the one next to the pinkie- on a dang chair leg and broke it. Yes, I was running. You might have heard me yelp from there.

I was told there was nothing to be done for a broken toe, so I put it right back where it once was, and taped it up. Now that hurt.

To walk on that foot, was a real challenge, and I surely wasn't wearing any of my fine, pretty shoes for a couple of months. Never thought something as wee as a toe could create such pain.

Can't imagine what a broken big toe would feel like. Here, sweetie, have a few more bon bons.

Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no!

How does that suck? I should count the ways.

Nope, I've never had a broken bone. Well, maybe my collar bone when I was 4 or 5?

I HAVE had my tonsils out. And had my feminine bits tweaked a couple times whilst the kind doctors had sent me to slumber land. Probably TMI on those.

Anyway... :)

I did rip back the skin on the outside of my little toe, lots of blood squirting, and such.

Had strep 4 or 5 times as a young adult.

Oh, think I may have dislocated my hip when I was 16. Never swish your wet hair this and that way to dry it on a nice summer's day on your bicycle. Those deep ditches can lunge at you.

Oh no, oh no, oh no,
You broke your big toe.
On your ottoman.
Were you blotto, woMAN?

Jannie

OMG! I hope you feel better. Nothing I've done lately comes close. Just a bit burned on my knuckle from bacon grease. But the end result was yummy.,...not crummy.
:o)

Heal up quick!

Dear, what was the HBO show you were trying to watch?!

Ack!! Not another medical issue! Certainly getting the $$ puts that insurance, aren't ya?
I've broken toes a many times- work, this house's beams- Good excuse to sit awhile, if only the chores could magically do themselves!
Middle toe does keep your balance-
one of mine doesn't work anymore... Never go to the doc for that- Just tape it up n self treat. Still got a foam shoe from '01 (had Ins) if I need one.

You could tape some ugly foam around those ottoman legs- or crafty you, how about some washable little cozies? I'd prob make some shorter summer socks, n use the cuttings...

Get better soon (within 2 weeks!)

Ouch! I've broken a toe a couple of times before so I know what that horrible crunch sounds and feels like.

I hope the boot comes off soon, although you wear the look very well! You appear quite mysterious and dashing sitting on the laptop with the boot on.

Best,
Jai

You didn't tell me you had injured yourself!!! What do I have to do, read your blog everyday? What? Oh. Well ...

So sorry you seem to lurch from catastrophe to disaster to let's hope this is the worst of it!

Guilty, of course, of broken bones. Can you compute menopause + osteoporosis = fragile bones? Broke a metatarsal (foot bone) in Paris and wore that doohickey you drag around now. About six years ago, I tripped on the sidewalk and broke a rib.

Old age is dangerous, huh?

well dang, that must have been one good show!! I guess this is a sign to slooooow dowwwn.....!
I've surprisingly never broken a bone (quick knock on wood) considering what a klutz I am. Never without visible bruises, your post is serving as a good reminder for myself, to take it easy and pay attention to my surroundings - especially toes!!
Pain free healing wishes coming your way. xox

Paige, I'm so sorry for your pain, but I too cracked up at the ham falling on your foot. You're just one clumsy gal, ain't ya? :)

I fractured my foot and ankle in about a gazillion places, (the doc stopped counting when he reached 30), on the 4th of July no less, and had to use crutches for three months, and wear the boot for another three, so I know your pain.

I do hope your toe heals very soon. I know how irritating it can be to be incapacitated.

Oh! I'm so sorry you broke your toe. Ouch. But what a good artist you are! I really enjoyed your art in the above post. And now you can practice and practice while you're recuperating. Best wishes as you heal.... Debra
