It's not too late...

Well maybe

Sand Stickers; What a problem on bare feet and I like to be bare footed. These things grow well in bad soil. I did a bit of reading on this last summer and found out that most, if not all, sticker weeds thrive in poor soil. So you have to make your yard richer, but don’t throw your pocket change in it. Add compost—not fertilizer—to your yard and especially the areas that have the sand stickers, in the winter to very early spring. Heavy compost can burn your grass, so easy does it. Pick up a few bags, or a pickup bed full, from your local home improvement store spread it around somewhat evenly with a shovel. You don’t want big piles of the stuff, and yes it does smell a bit but that will lessen and diminish in a couple days. Natural rain fall is best but if that is not happening water a bit to help marry it into your soil. It may take doing this more than once, but your yard will thank you and so will the bottom of your feet. Happy upcoming summer.

Hi Paige. Great to see some poems and I think it's perfect that you are going to write one a day! How about 'Curiosity' for the days your muse has gone on holiday?

Well, that's the first time I've heard of killing some plants with kindness, usually it's the other way 'round.

I agree, those stickers are awful, but one good use for them I've heard -- when your socks get all loaded up with skiky little sticker-burs put 'em on your doorknob to keep the kids out of your bedroom.

Is that funny or what?

Thanks Gran.

Oh my, Jannie I suppose that would work like a charm. I guess that's what folks did before locking doors was popular.

that is too funny

and my Word Verifcation word is...

how funny is that; for real!

We have something like those way out back by the creek. Anyway they stick on anything, especially the cats.

We also have a thistle that causes great pain when you step on it with bare feet and Jimmy goes around the yard and cuts them out with his knife each time he sees one. Thank goodness there aren't too many of them.

The chip clip you asked about on the storm door was put there by me after the door latched and froze shut (it locked me out) while I was outside taking those snow pictures. Once I thawed the latch open I stuck that clip there so the door couldn't latch shut so that Jimmy wouldn't get locked outside and freeze his behind off.
I think he has since removed the chip clip because he said we were heating the outside.

I love your 365 Views blog...you have some really neat pictures in there.

If my yard weren't burried in snow I might get ready to spread some cow poo. Guess I'll have to wait a couple more months.
