I did IT...

I sat on the couch with OPRAH!

So the other morning I got up early {usual} and stumbled into the kitchen for a cuppa and then flopped on the couch. I checked my comments (I’m addicted ya know) and was not surprised to see one from my dear internet Deanna. Anyways she gifted me with this…BUT Y’ALL DON’T STOP READING or click away just wait a minute…K?

L’Aussie’s Fair Dinkum Award

Rules: mention & link back to L’Aussie Writing (check)

I’m getting there about sitting with Oprah. Okay consider me there, this is the comment I left for Deanna (don’t laugh I was (AM) serious No really)

“Hole-E-Mole-EEEE. I, I, well I just don't know what to say. Thank you. Wow!

I mean...

Ha I always knew I would sit on the same couch with Oprah. I just thought it would be her couch and not that of a dear, dear internet friend. Gosh, thanks Deanna”

Now I’m gonna pass this on to a few folks -- ALL OF Y’ALL, because I love ya and junk. But to mention by name a few that have been encouraging, have helped, and are helping with a writing project (behind the scenes as it were)

Who wants 69?

Did I get your attention? Yeah, I know my dear internets and I know you are now wondering where oh where is she going with this? I’m wondering too.

Haha not really! I know the point I want to make and it’s really important. Well important enough to practically beg for your attention and those unusual people that Google really strange phrases.

Do y’all see that group of followers in my right hand side bar? Yeah go ahead and take a quick gander. See it says I have 69 followers. Oh I know that’s a lot but the problem I’m having is…well it’s been stuck at sixty-nine for a long time now…and I for one could not help but notice that. Didn’t you? I’m pretty sure some of y’all did, okay maybe some of my more freaky dear internets. It’s okay my mind wanders to the gutter too…every now and again. No it’s not there constantly.

Yes this is a post to try and promote a couple more followers. Hey don’t look at me that way. I can see the face you are making. You too would be begging for at least one more follower…lest you should be known as the www Sixty-Niner.

Come on, help a Queen out. IF you are not following yet, don’t be afraid you don’t really have to read every little post We post (we will not know) Although you may get a kick outta some of our post for we have been told that we make funnies and milk come outta noses. Okay so the milk part is not true, but tears…oh yes that we have caused once twice three times a lady. (we /our is Queen talk for I / Me / My) -haha say that in a sing-songy sort of way and it sounds like a song.

Does too!

Now get outta here, AFTER you sign up to follow, I hear that the NEW YEAR is upon us (maybe already started for you)

And for something else when WAS the last time you mentioned or tweeted one of our post? Yeah I thought so.

One more last thing – please don’t drink and drive I promise the life you save will be someone’s child.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, my dear internets

December 16, 2010

Wynter has arrived

That would be my new granddaughter. Wynter Rayne, born on the 15th and she is beautiful and thank God is perfect and likes to pose for pictures just like I do…NO not upside down, my silly dear internets…she makes faces and I love her. And she is #9 and I freely sing that old Beatles song...Number Nine.

Mom had a bit of a drawn out labor but did well, she was mad at my son. Duh! Pain HURTS. I had to make a joke. Well you knew I would; about how labor last a lot longer than the making baby part. You know. Hey I really didn’t want to go into too much detail. If you don’t know what I mean go talk to your teenagers they will splain it to you Lucy.

So here she is, our 7 pound 1 ounce, 20 and a half inched princess.

Now everyone give me a virtual hug and you may kiss the baby on your screen, but not in real life cause I as Queen Nana cannot have this precious child catch any virus; computer or otherwise.

We are exhausted and must retire to our boudoir. That means go to bed as it has been a long 72 hours.

For Today and Tomorrow

Let me state from the get-go This is Not about ME, however I am foregoing a post today in the hopes that you will go here and read about these spoons. This is not a joke or a "gottcha" so in advance thank you

And thank you, as I'm not worthy of any of your special spoons.

Talk about Scary...

Recently Baby Girl said one of the moles on her back felt like it was poking her. So I took a look and um, didn’t like what I saw. See what I mean.

It took a week, but we got in to see the dermatologist. I felt so bad for Baby Girl on accounta she is so very, extremely modest and dermatologist look at you ALL over. Bless her heart. I getting there…

So Doctor wanted a biopsy, as I suspected she would. She was gonna do a slice of it and then went out the room, Baby Girl plied me question after question, I was calm and made light of the situation. She has hypochondriac genes, ya know IF she hears she may have blah blah symptoms she WILL. I did not lie, don’t do that to my kids and I got lucky she only asked about the procedure and not the what it means stuff. Okay so Baby Girl is familiar with biopsies she just didn’t make the connection.

Doctor comes back in the room, appears she had a change of heart and decided to do a core punch. Meaning she would take the whole mole. Okay that’s good then we don’t have to worry about keeping an eye on it and we could just get on with whatever was to come of it.

Baby Girl did very well with the procedure and was proud of herself and this - her first ever surgery and first every stitches. It didn’t hurt.

And now the results, ha your waiting was nothing like mine; think chest pains and if possible I got tons more gray hair. Normal. Did you hear that? The results are it was a normal ugly mole. Just keep an eye on the one on her upper outside thigh.

Emergency Post

This is a copy of the email I just sent off to Jannie the Funster. Maybe if I let all my dear internets know what's going on they will turn up. Okay so I'm hopping Jannie won't be mad at me too. Alright here's the email

Jannie, I had a surprise in the PO box yesterday...thanks so much. I love 'em

I'm just sorry I have to tell you this, but there has been a slight altercation the set of rooster salt & pepper shakers we already had, got their beaks outta joint when they saw the new bigger set of chicken S&P and before I knew it they had hen pecked the new ones until they announced they would not stay here (for long). Then promptly marched off to make a nest in the great packing material that you used. This morning when I got up I hunted for a couple of eggs to boil and low and behold Salt and Pepper were nowhere to be found. I was so upset I could just ring all their necks! Then I went out to the mail box to post a birthday card to my mom and found a note in the box.

Paige, we don't like it here! We are moving on! Hope to find new home or maybe we travel around!

What a pair of little chicken shits. And all those exclamation points, what was up with that? I'll let ya know if / when they show back up.

please give all my best to Lil' Kelly & JimBo

xxxooo

Paige

ps it's not my fault it was the rooster set of seasonings :-)

If ya get a chance please drop by and tell her It's not my fault, really it's not. Please and thank you so very much.

Just full of it

ya don't say. A Blog of Substance title has been bestowed upon moi by Sheila who is by the way just full of it too, speaking of her cool products which you can find here. Was too. Thanks so much, unless this means full of malarkey, even so thanks so much.

Receiving this award comes with some customary rules which I will list below, but one of the unique rules is to sum up my blogging philosophy, motivation, and experience in 5 words. So, my 5 words are

Crazy
Crazy a$$
Crazy a$$ed
Crazy a$$edness
Sincerity, no really that’s just a rumor

And yes all that is because of you my dear internets. Now I need to give it to ten people and they are supposed to state the rules and link back to the giver (that would be moi) and then pass it on to ten of their dear internets. I hate this part, no not passing it on of course, but the choosing part and the award goes to…. (but first this interuption don't just glance at the list and run, keep reading) pretty please and thank you

Rules, this comes with a couple of rules and believe it or not every once in a while I follow the rules. No, really it’s true. Link to the person I was honored by- Easy that would be Jai of Jai Joshi’s Tulsi Tree; Tell of 10 things that make me happy (besides this award). This is gonna be hard to do as lots of things make me happy and without further ado, in no particular order

1. A baby’s smile (any baby, anywhere including the ones on TV)

2. The smell of gesso

3. Seeing a picture that I like

4. Hugging my children

5. Being a house wife

6. Listening to music

Hum sometimes I wonder...

about my dear internets. So someone, a secret admirer perhaps, thinks this blog is so funny that it screams H~U~M~O~R  or is someone trying to say I scare the hell outta ‘em. Okay all kids outside, no really send them outside to play for a change. I am pleased to have been given this, ah, um, ah thing from you know who (my secret admirer)  Oh yeah I almost forgot to say thank you, so thank you my dear internet.

passing this on to:
Susan’s Snippets - her photos and commentary are screamingly real
Ma Vie Folle - she just cracks me up
Melissa’s manic Musings  - what can I say she is a maniac

And now for some Crazy A$$ed questions (as if you would expect anything less than whole milk)

1. How does my screen look from your side?

2. Beloved asks: What did the 1st camel say to the 2nd camel when describing her new pedicure over the phone? (yeah you know it’s funny)

3. Have you ever pulled someone’s finger? And if so I dare you to describe your experience (don’t be scared the clown is watching)

4. And now that my screen has been cleaned how does it look?

5. Have you ever been bitten by a dog? I have can you guess where? Go ahead take a guess

6. Are you the type of cook that buys pre-boiled eggs like these below?

7. And one last question; okay so y’all know when you sign something xxxooo, meaning hugs and kisses, does the x represent the hug or the kiss? Cause it seems like the hug should be the o, because it like hugs you.

Special thanks to all those that helped to make this weird post possible:
Jannie for the award, Loose Leaf Notes-for the puppy, Beloved for the camel toe joke (yes it's still funny I mean just picture it), Grandpaw for the finger pulling, Moi for the super cool photo, Butch for the doggie bite, Moi again for the photo, and Baby Girl for the xxx & ooo question

Now go out there and leave some comment love on all the blogs you visit this week, even if all you type is "Paige told me to say hi."

Ta Dah-not an Autumn Adventure Post

A while back Deanna over at Deanna’s Blog (where else?) awarded me the Humane Award. I am humbled and grateful that she thinks of me this way. I don’t know how I could ever live up to it. So I won’t try I will just keep on being me ~ the one ~ the most awesome Paige that you know. Yes the Queen of my Paradise Valley. Remember that echo when I’m falling over the edge and laugh, laugh, laugh. I mean what else can one (Queen talk for me) do?

Thank you Deanna you are a bright spot in the Blogsphere or Boglandia whichever you prefer. (please note my educated use of Blog slang or is that language)

Y’all know how hard it is for me to choose among my dearest internets, I mean to pick just one or just a few… but a while back Snaggle Tooth over at Exit Stage Right posted about a Cat Lady being forced to get rid of some of her kitties (post is here) and her voiced opinion has earned her this award.

You-who Snaggle, are your there? I take pleasure in offering this award to you. Please enjoy.

UN related yet curious question…

Have y’all decided what you are making from your leftover turkeys?

Speaking of cut ups – tomorrow is Hysterectomy Day, hope to read y’all soon!

November 11, 2009

Autumn Adventure...YES again!

Well my dear internets to continue on with my autumn adventure/saga we were staying in a local hotel about 5 miles from our house fairly convenient but we had to eat out every day and the insurance company does not care so much for that. We have now moved to a nicer hotel that has a kitchenette, heated pool and workout room. It also smells better, our bed is way better, but Baby girl however is sleeping on a pullout. She says that the heated pool makes it okay.

About the insurance adjuster we received a letter stating that we did not have mold coverage but re-mediation, whatever that means. But you know what it's not my problem, God will do what needs to be done in His time in His way and we are blessed.

I do know that all my hardships have been very hard to follow as I'm not typically quite so depressing nor whiny, it's just not my style, ya know? I am normally more sarcastic and smart a$$ed which is a far better coping mechanism than this. Don't y’all think? That is a rhetorical question, not really meant for you to answer. But thanks so much for agreeing with me. So from now on let’s just have happy thoughts, smiling smiles and jiggly giggles. Yes jiggly, well okay for you my skinny dear internets just giggles cause us chunky/healthy girls get to jiggle with our giggle.

Beloved mentioned how rich we were now that we have a house “in town” and “one in the county” I know I fell out laughing too.

Okay so we are going to leave all this far behind that said I've written a little poem. It has been ages if not for ever since I gave you one. Thanks for being my dear internets.

Away

The music has fallen away
Lips no longer echo the lyrics
In harmony on the air waves
Or even in disharmony

The soul does lie open
As an unplayed score
Upon the maestros stand
Wand and hand slice and dice

Through the air, instructing
Notes to bounce and boom
Cajoling voices into instruments
Giving beauty to the rise and fall

Sweet melody ringing, tingling
Tickling the very breathing air
From which the music has fallen
Away, too far away from the heart

It is not really finished as I believe there should be at least one more stanza, a positive one. These were just thoughts that I have had on my not singing, not that I am some great singer or sumthin;-I have not sung to the songs on the radio for weeks maybe months now feels like forever. It is hard to say but I've really only recently noticed and I have not been able to make myself sing the songs any songs that use to move me, make my spirit take flight. Now seeing the problem, admitting the problem are the first steps in recovery. I cannot explain how this situation started, but it ends right now.

Tell me my dear internets do you sing? I know you do so tell me where do you dare and what do you sing?

November 7, 2009

More Autumn Adventure

And here I sit my dear internets at the laundra-rama while at home my new washer and dryer dustily sit. We finally got connected with our insurance adjuster they talked to our contractor and are working on an adjustment claim. We don't know the dollar amount that we will receive, however it will be somewhat negotiable -- whatever that means.  In the meantime I've come to grips with the disaster and am excited to be getting a new kitchen. Because the walls (sheet rock) have come down, I spoke to the contractor and it is very doable to put the washer and dryer in the garage instead of in the house in the little pantry, no extra cost. (you believe that right?) We're going to totally take the pantry walls down put counters in and a floor to ceiling pantry cabinet thing with pullout shelves. I mean why not, I didn't like the cabinets anyway and there was not enough counter space. Yes I will post pictures when they get put in. if that ever happens

We are not really fancy people however we do like nice. I found a floor tile that looks like wood and we hope to be able to put that in the entryway, hallway, and living room. The contractor suggested adding a small bar that mimics the little bay window in the dining room to separate, some want, the dining area kitchen from the living room. I thought that was an astounding idea therefore I need to pick another tile to go in the dining room kitchen area, a cheaper one I think will be best. Is this exciting or what?

Now the paint color… as you know my daughter Erin just painted the living room for us when I was off that week of my surgery and because I am not inspired as to a specific color, at this time, we are going to go with divine white. The lighting in my kitchen was not the best in fact it was barely sufficient so as the opportunity has kindly arisen I have picked out two new ceiling fixtures for the kitchen and they will install a hanging light over the sink (yea) and I've chosen one to replace the dining table chandelier. That may actually light things up.

Our fireplace had tile around it, not anymore duh, so once again I have picked a tile and a small trim piece for that. I love our ceiling fan in the living room so we will be keeping it although it is polished brass and the new fixtures for the kitchen are sort of chocolate brown/aged copper like color. I am sure it has some kind of fancy a$$ed designer name. I will show you, if of course it works out as I am planning. Okay, okay I'll show you even if it does not work out the way I'm planning. All because I love you and your amazing support of me, my family and our situation.

Perhaps we'll get lucky and be able to have the bed rooms re-carpeted, just in case I picked out brown carpet for them. Yes it may be darker than what most people would pick but I have lived with that light tan deer colored carpet for over 20 years probably more like 30. And that is enough!

In more exciting, okay maybe not exciting more like good news, my stitches have been removed now for a few days and the cut looked gross at first but it gets better every other day. Because of the pain in my right arm I have asked my doctor to do a letter in regards to my ability to work. Mostly because the hysterectomy that I'll be having on the 16th will keep me from having surgery on my right arm, and that has been scheduled for December 14th ...On accounta I got bad news...cause it has not been enough yet.

My office will be closing at the end of December (rumor has it that I will be reassigned to work from home- which would be totally awesome). Yet I am saddened at not working with this great group of folks that I have known most for 15 years. You bet the timing looks very suspicious and if I had planned it it dam sure wouldn’t be during the holidays. Cause how will I get to cook in my new kitchen? If I get a new kitchen. This whole timing thing is bad and please believe me when I say how horrible it makes me feel, I love my company it is the best, absolute bestest I have ever worked with, they are considered family.

I'm having a hard time fighting the tears, which is making this post hard to write. My software barely understands me already due to my charming Southern accent to which Jannie can attest. Bless her heart she said “pardon", "sorry what” more than a couple of few times. So anyway I’ll wrap this up by signing off for today and sending you all my hugs and great thanks for your support.

I know that no matter what God will do what is best, love is at the center and it radiates outward.

Speaking of radiate—where is that solar man that started all this?

How are things with y’all? Got that turkey picked out yet?

It's ALIVE

Okay, my dear internets I survived. Yeah and thanks so much for your prayers, one can never have too many of those. Gonna keep it short today. Photos here…don’t be scared.

Honeymoon was great. We went into Houston for the Bayou City Art Festival, more of an art market and I was so enthralled at looking at the art and talking to the artist that I didn’t take many pictures. Beloved did take some really good ones I’m very jealous, but please don’t tell him.

That’s all for now... Okay stop complaining...enjoy a bit of eye candy.

October 9, 2009

Ooh la la

Because it is my Honeymoon weekend our 7th , I am pre-posting this for you. Now that autumn or fall or just that plan ‘ol little bit of cooling off period has arrived in your area I thought I would post my study of the color brown. Brown and all the shades thereof have their roots in nature the earth (ha ha). What does brown make you think of or better yet what does it make you feel? For me I think muddy shoes and dirty hands from planting vegetables and flowers and even chocolate ice cream dripping off a child’s chin onto their little white shirt, our sweet Mother Earth.

And when we get back from our honeymoon I will be having my left hand carpel tunnel released on Monday the 12th. Give me a few days or less depending on my amount of motion and boredom before I visit y'all. My surgeon better known as the hand dude says my Ulna nerve issue in my right hand/arm may require surgery as well, but that will have to wait even though it hurts bad enough to bring tears to my eyes. My gynecologist says the baby barn (as KimmyK calls it) has got to go, so that surgery is scheduled for mid November. I know I'm gonna wear y'all out asking for kind words to our Father; But you love me and I am the queen of this here valley so please keep me in your prayers, that I will wake up from the anesthesia. Thank you much.

I have asked my daughter Erin, yes her real name, to come over and paint our living room. On accounta I can't because of my hands. DUH! It is currently red, the living room not my hand, which I love but we have had it for about 10 years and I found a pair of pants in a sort of caramel color that I really like. I'm gonna be a little more conservative this time and instead of painting the whole room the one main color caramel I have picked a white(Devine white) for all the walls except one which will be an accent wall and it gets to be the color Mulling Spice. And here is the before view.

Read you soon my dear internets.

Kreative Moi?

Oh my gosh! I am so excited to have received this really koooool award from Linda of Left Brain Write. To have been mentioned in the same post with other bloggers (Greta of for Write or Wrong; Jodi of Fiction Writer; Michael of Not from here, are you? (where I had a piece posted); Angel of A rage of Angel; Melissa of Windspirit Girl; John of The Bathroom Monologues) is pretty neat too. I feel very honored to be considered Kreative, although I will admit I have fantasies about it and my mind usually has a better view than my ability on some fronts. Yeah I could use a boost to my self confidence as I almost always put a disclaimer on my work and opinion…hey I said almost.

I am thrilled to have you, my dear Internets, even read this blog and it is that very reason that I don’t play favorites, I mean that’s like picking a favorite kid or something else just as impossible. So please forgive me for not being able to pick just 7 of y’all to pass this awesome award to. Know that y’all are all Kreative in one form or another, heck I don’t read ya cause you are non-creative ~snort~

But for the 7 mystery writers, let’s see

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Agatha Christie

Ellery Queen

Raymond Chandler

Brad Meltzer

Mary Higgins Clark

Insert your Fav here; as I only have 6

Thanks again Linda for all your kindness towards my crazy a$$.

Just Because

Patty over at Morning Ramble (see link in side bar) posted about some experiments 7-20-09 and one from 2007 she had conducted. I dare you, now don't be scared, to read them BOTH all the way through.

Why do I mention this you may ask, or not…it sorta goes with my prior post about Love…Honesty.

And I found them interesting* especially about the people that knew her and how quickly opinions snapped.

*y'all know how eclectic I can be and how I really seem to like using the asterisk *
